About KLO
I am a passionate designer who started out doing web design at an elementary school in Canada, where I was the computer specialist that taught the students and the teachers how to use this new technology that had been introduced to the schools, called the PC. I taught myself HTML in order to create a school website and to teach the students how to create class pages. The first time I brought up a finished page in a web browser, I was fascinated by how you can take a seeming nonsensical language and translate it into a visual, interactive design with color, images, and words. The students were hooked as well.
I moved to the Syracuse, New York area in 2001, and became a US citizen in March of 2007. I love Central New York, and quickly learned what "Lake Effect Snow" was. New York State is beautiful from her mountains, to her lakes and rolling hills. I have met so many wonderful people here. Even with the crazy winters, I cannot imagine living anywhere else.
Over the span of time since I brought home my first personal computer, the internet has grown beyond all expectations. it has evolved quickly from its humble beginnings of simple HTML that needed tables to keep content in line, to an anything goes when it comes to design by the use of CSS, limited only by the designer's imagination. It has become a tool, not only for the sharing of information, but a thriving social community and the world's largest, most incredible shopping mall. Anything you can imagine or want can be found online, as long as the site has been cataloged by the spider programs that crawl the web looking for keywords and Meta tags to index.
Being a lifelong learner and wanting to learn more about Web and Graphic design, I went back to college and graduated from Bryant & Stratton College in the spring of 2009 with a degree in Interactive Media Design. I set a goal for myself when I began classes to graduate with highest honours. I reached my goal and graduated Cuma Sum Laude, with a GPA of 4.0. I was also inducted into the International Business Honor Society Alpha Beta Gamma, Mu Alpha Chapter. By obtaining my degree, I increased my knowledge of web layout, graphic design, learned new programming languages and learned how to use Adobe Creative Suite to increase productivity and to create designs that are not only visually appealing, but user and search engine friendly. I continue to increase my skills; strive to keep up on the latest developments in web design and technology, search engine optimization, and to refine my artist talents.
